The carterton Community & Railway Museum is the home of the Wairarapa Railway Restoration Society Inc. The museum is located is a small New Zealand North Island town of approx 5000 people approx. 90km north east of NZ's capital city of Wellington. The Railway Station has been operating for over 125 years. The building is built of New Zealand native timbers & is the oldest station of it's type still operating in New Zealand. It houses displays railway memorabilia of a bygone era while still serving the travelling public.the museum is open every Sunday & at other times by request. enquiries always welcome.

Take a journey back in time... to the Pleasant Point Museum and Railway. Situated 15 minutes West of Timaru, South Island, New Zealand Fully restored steam trains Board the train at the original Railway Station, built in 1875, which is in the centre of the quaint country town of Pleasant Point. Travel down the track to the Keanes Crossing complex where there is vintage Railway Rolling Stock including Steam Locomotives: * 85 ton Ab699 built 1922 * 16 ton D16 built 1878.
