| The carterton Community & Railway Museum is the home of the Wairarapa Railway Restoration Society Inc. The museum is located is a small New Zealand North Island town of approx 5000 people approx. 90km north east of NZ's capital city of Wellington. The Railway Station has been operating for over 125 years. The building is built of New Zealand native timbers & is the oldest station of it's type still operating in New Zealand. It houses displays railway memorabilia of a bygone era while still serving the travelling public.the museum is open every Sunday & at other times by request. enquiries always welcome. |
