Northern Ohio Railway Museum (NORM) was founded in 1965 and incorporated in 1976 as a not-for-profit education and historical organization. Our goals are to collect, preserve, restore, operate and display streetcars and other railway related equipment. In essence, to preserve a vanishing era--the trolley era. NORM is a member of the Association of Railway Museums.

The Ohio Railway Museum is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and interpretation of the railroad history of Ohio and the United States. Our mission is to promote the appreciation of railway history and its role in the growth of developing industrial technology in Ohio and the United States and to provide an interactive educational experience to the public. With a unique and varied collection, the Museum began with the acquisition of Ohio Public Service interurban car #21, which is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The collection has grown to over 30 pieces, including streetcars, interurbans, passenger and freight cars, motor cars, railway construction equipment, and Norfolk and Western steam passenger locomotive #578.

The Allen County Museum’s railroad collection contains Shay and Rod Builder’s negatives, prints and specification sheets from the Lima Locomotive Works. In addition, we have an extensive amount of material from the New York Central, ICC records, thousands of books, magazines, timetables and assorted reference data covering a wide variety of railroads.

The former New York Central depot, built in 1900, is the home of the Conneaut Railroad Museum. Besides rare items, such as an 1866 Stock Certificate of the Red River Line (NYC) and relics from the Ashtabula Bridge Disaster of 1876 are large displays of Lanterns, Timetables, Passes and old Photos. There are several large scale models of Locomotives and Equipment along with smaller gauge models. Outside you'll find an entire full size train, including Nickel Plate Berkshire #755.

Steps and open doors mean welcome aboard to folks of all ages who come to this "hands on" Museum to enjoy the day and reminisce at their leisure about railroading. Books, videos, patches, pins, T-shirts, hats, and mugs are just a few of the items available in the gift shop. A picnic shelter is located in the former LS & MS passenger depot area. The Mad River & NKP Railroad Museum is open daily from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Group tours are available.

The Museum relies upon the generosity of its Members, Volunteers, and those who visit, to keep these beautiful old vehicles properly maintained, restored and running. Ride a fully restored 90 year old wood-bodied Interurban -- a superb example of the carpenter's art.
