For many years Elmira Station served as the end of the line for Prince Edward Island's railway. Today, displays of photographs, maps and artifacts, a recreated station master's office and ladies' waiting room recount the fascinating story of railroading on the Island. For decades, Elmira was the last stop for the trains that travelled east on Prince Edward Island. The Friends of Elmira Railway Museum want to encourage more tourists and Islanders to stop at Elmira and visit the museum site which offers a glimpse of PEI's railroading heritage.

The third railway station built on the island was built with an eye to longevity. The building was widely recognized as one of the most elaborate stations in the province. Over the last few years, the station has been extensively renovated and returned to its original glory. The museum's collection includes the restored CN #1762, rolling stock, CNR artifacts and a working model of the early Kensington rail yards. During the summer months the freight shed houses a farmers market and the gazebo is often hopping with live entertainment.
Location: Kensington is located in Prince County in the western portion of Prince Edward Island, 15 km NE of Summerside. It is 48 Km west of Charlottetown and 23 km southwest from Cavendish.
