Rating : 5 star. A MIRAC;LE IN MAINE , 11-Jan-2004

Not a soul ever dreamed that this remarkable railroad could ever be more than a treasured memory rapidly fading into a misty legend as the generations who remebered it passed beyond the palr. ````But starting in 1989 a dedicated group of local folks and WW&F fans began the impossible.. Actually rebuilding a section of this 19th century two-foot gauge railroad on the original right of way.````Fourteen years later , they have done did, almost entirely through their own seat equity and funds donated by their 8oo members! A mile and a half of two foot gauge track now links two stations, Sheepscot and Alna Center. The Sheepscot station has been reconstructed, with a replica of the large Wiscasset yellow shops and the equipment roster includes most of the surviving WW&F equipment: Locomotive No. 9, passenger coach No. 4, and assorted freight cars - most of it a century old!````You can only imagine the thrill of a WW&F train chuffing through the birch and evergreen woods of Maine between the diminutive but sturdy little engines, and kids especially will love it because the equipment is more their size, more comprehensible and more loveable. (Can you imagine a real little workhorse locomotive you want to hug?)````For my money it's the best and most authentic historic rail experience in the state of Maine. I think I've fallen in love.
