This is a great place for a family outing.``Hands on experience for kids,they can get a``feel what its like to be an engineer by actually sitting in diesals and steam engines. I spent 8 hours there and still``didn't get to see all the trains or take all``the rides.``

First time I went was with my Wife's family I'm not really in to trains but I went. I must say it was a lot of fun. To see how the train ran and how people of that time traveled. Makes me what to be back in those times. But then I found out they have a car show there to and I have be going for 4 years now to the Union. This year the show is on Aug. 03, 2003. Make shur to come by the Camaro club and say HI to all of us.

I recently spent the entire day at IRM, they certainly have an excellent collection of locomotives, and rolling stock. I was very surprised to see so many restored trains. Highly reccomended museum!

I have been to several museums in the U.S. and find that this one of the best around.`` The collection includes steam, diesels,traction,freight and passenger equipment.```` Don't forget to look for the Denver Zepyhr.

A very nice collection of steam and diesal trains. Excellent job by the staff and volunteers. Found a flyer for this place while on vaction in chicago and it turned out to be highlight from the trip. I am looking forward to going back in a couple of years.

The Illinois Railway Museum is one of the best in the nation. It is run by enthusiastic volunteers who find creative ways to restore and preserve our rail heritage. With steam, electric, and diesel collections, it has something for every railfan. Also, IRM features a fine collection of trolley buses and gas buses too.
