The oldest train depot in the state of Washington, the Depot is the primary artifact, housing an extensive photographic collection of early Columbia County, and also some artifacts pertaining to the railroad and Columbia County. The depot was built in 1881 and is Washington state's oldest rail depot. It was in operation until the 1970s, when it was listed as a National Historic Site. The Union Pacific Railroad donated the depot to the Dayton Historical Depot Society in 1975.

Follow the railroad tracks to historic downtown Issaquah and visit the Historic Railroad Depot, currently listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Railroad memorabilia is on display, along with a vintage caboose and other railroad cars. Pictures of Issaquah's past show you the town as it was in early days. Tours are available by appointment.

The old 1911 Northern Pacific Railway depot in Toppenish, Washington has been reopened as the Northern Pacific Railway Museum. The attempt is being made to recreate the ambience of the 1930 Northern Pacific Railroad. The depot has been restored to its early appearance and gives an opportunity for the visitor to view many aspects of early railroad transportation. Its many artifacts help to demonstrate the importance of railroad transportation to the development of our community and the entire Western United States.

The Northwest Railway Museum is a Washington non-profit corporation. The Northwest Railway Museum Collection of railway equipment is one of the most significant in the United States and is representative of Northwest railroading. It numbers over 70 large items (greater that 1 ton) including examples of steam locomotives, passenger and freight cars, and specialized railway equipment that built and maintained the right-of-way. The Collection includes a research library and smaller railway artifacts including dining car china, specialized tools, signage and lantern. The Museum Collection also includes 5.5 miles of main line track, 3.5 miles of historic right-of-way, and the fully-restored Snoqualmie Depot, constructed in 1890.

The museum features many artifacts from the SP&S Railway, including photographs, lanterns, books, brochures, china, historic documents, and displays of locomotive and other equipment parts. The museum is staffed exclusively by volunteers, most of whom formerly worked for the SP&S Railway. Museum artifacts include parts saved from the SP&S 911, one of the railroad's challenger (4-6-6-4) steam locomotives. The museum also displays a deluxe bedroom from a Pullman car and features a model railroad that depicts scenes along the SP&S.

Located alongside the Burlington Northern tracks, the Depot is a clear reminder of the importance of the railroad in the economy and social life of old Ritzville. For generations in the life of Ritzville--as of the nation--rail travel was the primary mode of transport. For over sixty years of Ritzville's history, both passenger travel and shipments of freight to markets near and far went chiefly by train. The railroad was instrumental to the settlement of Ritzville by carrying its crops to national and international markets, and by bringing new settlers to the area.

The Yakima Electric Railway Museum is home to the Yakima Valley Trolleys! This electric railway museum is the last, original, and still operating interurban trolley system, in the United States! When you ride the historic Yakima Valley Trolleys, you will see history being made every time you ride the trolley! You will also learn about the history of the Yakima Valley Transportation Company. The trolley runs five and a half miles long, and takes about an hour and a half to go round trip. As you enjoy your ride through the Selah Gap, be sure to look for cacti along the track. You can take pictures along the way, so bring your camera. The historic trolleys at the Yakima Electric Railway Museum is a fun adventure for any age group. You will travel back in time, on this wonderful, electric, interurban trolley adventure!
